NOLA Day 7

Mon, 01/07/2013 - 12:00am -- siteblogger

We woke up this morning in time to have our final breakfast at the hotel, to thank the hotel staff for being so kind to us, and to putting everything in the vans to drive off to the airport.
We returned the vans and went to the gate for our first flight to Houston. There were no delays that day, as there had been none on the first day either, and all of our luggage arrived in White Plains for us to pick up. The only small challenge was making sure that for the last flight no one got on the plane flying to Milwaukee, since two planes were taking off from the same gate.

We all woke up this morning realizing this was our final day... a bitter sweet morning...
After a meditation service, we had breakfast together and departed for Animal Rescue New Orleans. There the group divided into a dog group and a cat group. The cat people helped clean cages and spent some time with the felines. The dog people, walked the smaller dogs and did some chores around the shelter.

Shabbat means late wake up. YAY!
After a yummy breakfast at the hotel, our group walked back to congregation Shir Chadash for services. It was Noah's birthday, so during services Rabbi Linden had the whole congregation sing "Yom Huledet Sameach" to him, and the congregation sang "Skip Around the Room" until he did! It was super fun. After services we had lunch at the synagogue.
